I'm not too fond of this manicure =/ It just didn't turn out like I intended it to.

pink wednesday

So, I stumbled upon this concept before I started my blog but never participated.
Here's the banner & a link so you all can check it out!

Although I had a yellow manicure for my brothers graduation I decided to do a really quick, really rough pink manicure just to use my neglected pink polishes and to participate in this awesome idea!

Base: Sally Hansen Insta-Dri "Sonic Bloom" - 2 coats (In the bottom picture, it's the middle stripe)
The top and bottom stripes are two shades of pink from Kiss Nail Art.

they call me mellow yelloooow (:

I had my brothers grade nine graduation and despite the fact that today is Wednesday and we wear pink on Wednesdays (See next blog), my dress is black, white and yellow. So, without further adieu, today's manicure.

Base Coat: Sally Hansen X-Treme Wear "Mellow Yellow"
FIVE coats. This polish just was not working for me. As you can see in my top pictures, there's a couple flaws that just would not cover so I let the nail art cover them.
The nail art is Black nail art by Kiss. I kinda liked this manicure better with 2 flowers on the thumb and then just 1 on each other one but I got a little carried away.

you're the last of your kind, mona lisa.

New manicure! However, i'm sure that by the end of tonight, i'll have a different one.
Base: Sally Hansen X-Treme Wear "Celeb City" - 2 coats

* Typically, all my nail art takes only one coat but this green color took two, it's just a little too sheer for one.

random manicure.

So, I had an idea in my head and I tried it on paper, it just didn't work out. So, not being able to decide on a design, I just did a bunch of random ones.
First, a base coat of Sally Hansen Insta-Dri "Mint Sprint". This is ONE coat, the formula of this polish is amazing.

Then, I added one coat of "CHARMING", I got it for Christmas and I *think* the brand is The Color Institute, but there's no brand on the bottle.

Then, a coat of OPI Black Shatter on my ring finger.

Followed by various nail art done with Kiss Nail Art Polishes in black and white.
On top of that, two coats of Wet N Wild "Party of Five Glitters"

grape icy

This is a swatch of the polish I was talking about yesterday.
It's from Revlon's Scented collection and is called Grape Icy. It's VERY sheer on the first coat but covers fairly well afterwards. This is four coats but I think I could of gotten away with three.

Much like "Mad About Mango", i'm not sure how likely I am to wear this polish again, at least not without nail art or a top coat.

lightening

So, this is the BEST yellow polish i've ever used. I've had it for years and wear it regularly. It is the least streaky yellow i've ever used and I took a picture of the first and third coats to show this.
It's by Sally Hansen Insta-Dri and is called "Lightening".

mad about mango.

So, I bought this yesterday as well as "Grape Icy" from the same Revlon collection.
It's a nice pastel orange called "Mad About Mango" and as the name suggests, it smells just like Mango! It actually reminded me of Lucerne Mango Icecream.
It took 4 coats to get it this opaque and if I was going to keep this on, I would of done another coat for safety. However, I just put this on to swatch and to see if the scent really worked, it does!
As I type this, it is already off and i'm working on another manicure.

I like this color, however, i'm not sure how likely I am to wear it again. Next time I think i'll add a sparkly top coat and some nail art such as yellow fireworks or blue dots.

party nails

Base Coat : "Black Out" - Sally Hansen - Hard as Nails - Xtreme Wear (2 coats)
Glitter : "Party of Five Glitters" -Wet n Wild - Fast Dry (3 coats on all fingers, 4 on thumbs)
Thumb Design :  Kiss Nail Art (1 coat)
Top Coat : "Clearly Quick" - Sally Hansen - Insta-Dri (2 coats) [Unnecessary because of the thickness of Party of Five but I like it as shiny as possible :) ]
I really liked this manicure and was slightly sad taking it off!

zebra stripes.

Phew, I had my last exam today (Pure Math 30) and I am SO relieved to be done. Now to wait with fingers crossed until mid-July for results!
Inspired by my love of zebras, I did a zebra manicure!
First, White On by Sally Hansen - Hard as Nails Xtreme Wear.

Then, black nail art by Kiss for the zebra stripes. I don't use any plates or anything so all of this is done free hand. I really like this nail polish, however, it's typically better to wait a while before applying a top coat to the stripes.

Followed by a touch of Silver art by Kiss, slightly hard to see in the photograph, much more noticeable in person!

Enjoy! : )

monarch mani.

I did this manicure today, adapted from the many, many, many times i've seen this done in different ways. I was inspired by a tank top I bought today and needed a new manicure to match it.

The orange base is actually just from a dollar store; the brand is SHC but there isn't a color listed on the bottle.

The designs are again done with Kiss Nail Art Paint; black for the outline, white for the dots and silver for a little added glam!

dandelions.

So, I was inspired for this manicure by MaD Manis, one of my favorite blogs, check them out!

I did this manicure yesterday, before I got the idea to start a blog so I didn't swatch the base coat on it's own. Not the best pictures, but if I duplicate it, I will update the pictures.  For the base coat I used Sally Hansen's Complete Salon Manicure: Gray by Gray. Next time I change my manicure, i'll swatch it but for now, I took a picture from google.
For the dandelions, I used "Kiss Nail Art Paint" which comes in a kit of three different colours with some stencils. However, the stencils aren't very useful as i've found that they rip after a few uses.

This nail polish is great! It lasts long (although I change my manicures daily) and is really easy to freehand designs! I used the black to do the stem, adding a sepal to the top. Then, I used white to add the flower - just a bunch of lines. The fly away seeds are also done in white. Lastly, to add a little glam, I added three thin streaks of silver into the flower part.

This manicure was really easy and really fun to do!
